When I first became licensed as a real estate agent, I sat in a class where our broker was telling us all of the ways to try to get business so we could succeed. Daily phone calls. Sitting open houses. Door knocking. Sending handwritten notes letting everyone know you are an agent now.

As a new mom who was still working a full-time job at the time, there was no way that traditional real estate marketing was going to work for me. I mean, I don’t even like to call to order pizza, let alone cold calling some stranger to trust me with one of their biggest purchases/assets?! I had to find another way to make this work for me in the limited hours that I had available.

I found some accounts online talking about using social media to grow your business, so I started with that. Then I started hearing some people mention using email, too. Like social media, email seemed like it could be a great way to stay in touch with my sphere of influence without having to be absent from my other life responsibilities.

My experience with email had always been in a corporate work setting, not as a marketing tool, so I looked to see what my brokerage at the time offered. What I found? Canned, generic emails with articles and information that I would literally never open if it landed in my inbox. Just not my style at all. I knew there had to be something better out there.

And that’s when I found Flodesk.

I have always been an aesthetics girlie, so when I saw all of the beautiful email layouts and templates they had to choose from with Flodesk, I was immediately hooked. Over time I have started using Flodesk for so much more than monthly newsletters…

  • I use it to run a March Madness Bracket Challenge with my email list and send a note of gratitude over Thanksgiving.
  • The email list is the first to know about my new Holiday guide, or other lead magnets.
  • Having the ability to segment my clients by whether they are buyers, sellers, past clients, etc. helps me with being able to craft the perfect email message for what they are wanting to hear more about.
  • Using workflows, I’m able to automatically follow up with clients once they close to ask for reviews.

Flodesk Partner Insights: New Flodesk Features I Love

I have been using Flodesk since 2019, and in the beginning of 2025, I had the privilege of becoming a Flodesk Partner. Flodesk is so much more than just an email service provider with pretty layouts. I’ve had amazing deliverability with my emails and consistently have a 50-60% open rate. (If you’re not into email marketing analytics, that’s a pretty good number!)

They also have amazing support that is standing by to help, and tutorial videos to walk you through every step of using their platform. The simplicity of their system makes email marketing less of a stress to learn, and honestly just more fun!

When I talk to other real estate agents about how they can get started in email marketing, I always point them towards Flodesk. I truly do believe that it’s an easier learning curve to get started compared to other email providers out there. Not to mention that it’s an amazing way to nurture your sphere, clients, and new leads, and it has directly led to me getting new clients over the years of doing it consistently. Which is the point, right?!
